Lili Flanders was raised by a French mother and American father in Washington, D.C. and New England. Her bilingual and bicultural upbringing, as well as long summers spent in France and Cape Cod, have shaped her outlook and her writing. She now lives with her husband, actor Peter Mackenzie, in Los Angeles. Their three children have grown into lives and homes of their own, though, happily, they are always in touch and visit often.
Lili’s short fiction, award-winning flash stories, creative nonfiction and poems have appeared in online and print journals, including , Wigleaf, Vestal Review, The Foundling Review, New Millenium Writings, The Woven Tale, The Crosswinds Poetry Journal and the Bellevue Literary Review. Chapters from her memoir, The Only Way Around, have appeared in literary magazines such as The Healing Muse, and in the anthology Uncertain Promise, published in 2014 by Compass Flower Press.
Lili is a graduate of the Juilliard School of Drama and holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College. She has worked as an actor, story teller, eighth grade English teacher and creative writing workshop leader. She currently divides her time between writing and tutoring students who are dyslexic.
