Trained in classical theatre at The Julliard School, Lili worked as an actor for fifteen years before her growing interest in education led her from the stage to the classroom. She developed a storytelling and lecture program based on Shakespeare’s plays, which she performed in public and private schools in the Los Angeles area. From 1999 to 2004, she taught eighth grade English at the Curtis School, then returned to school herself and earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College. Currently, she writes and teaches privately. A certified Barton tutor, she specializes in working with students who have dyslexia.
While she served as a volunteer at 826LA, Lili developed a workshop series called LitLab in which students read, discussed and experimented with writing. She lead the workshops at both 826LA Mar Vista and at the Hammer Museum. She is a visiting writer at the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, where she periodically teaches flash fiction.
