Trained in classical theatre at The Julliard School, Lili worked as an actor for fifteen years before her growing interest in education led her from the stage to the classroom. She developed a storytelling and lecture program based on Shakespeare’s plays, which she performed in public and private schools in the Los Angeles area. From 1999 to 2004, she taught eighth grade English at the Curtis School, then returned to school herself and earned an MFA in Creative Writing from Warren Wilson College. Currently, she writes and teaches privately. A certified Barton tutor, she specializes in working with students who have dyslexia.
Lili volunteers as a tutor at 826LA, where she participates in workshops to help high school seniors craft personal essays for college applications. She has also developed a workshop series called LitLab in which students read, discuss and experiment with writing. She leads the workshops at both 826LA Mar Vista and at the Hammer Museum.
